Winter probably is not the ideal time to sell your home, but in Anchorage Alaska, winter is a long season. People buy and sell homes when they are ready to and not everyone has the luxury of waiting for the weather to change. The good news is you can incorporate some easy home selling tips into your winter selling strategy.
Improve Curb Appeal
One of the first things you want to do is improve your curb appeal. Remove any exterior debris, trash cans or old vehicles.Salt your driveway and walkways to prevent slipping and sliding. Also, make sure to remove those Christmas lights once the holidays are over.
You may think it sounds crazy, but the smell of something baking can make homebuyers fall in love with a property. They'll immediately think of fond memories from their childhood and feel at home. Nothing sells a home faster than plucking at the ol' heart strings. We all have 5 senses; you can increase your homes appeal with a pleasant baking smell.
If you're listing your home in the winter, there's a chance you need to sell the home sooner rather than later. Instead of setting a price that is higher than what your home is really worth, speak to a realtor about pricing the home competitively. A realtor will be able to look at recent home sales and other homes currently on the market to give you a price point that makes sense in today's market.
Light the Fireplace
If your home has a fireplace, show it off. Light that bad boy up and let the warmth and beauty appeal to the homebuyers. It's an easy step that will make your home feel more inviting.
Make the Home Feel Comfortable
Wintertime is when people's minds turn to staying indoors and relaxing. Add more throw pillows and comfortable looking throws to the living room. Use a stack of books for decoration. Put out those baked goods you made along with coffee or hot cocoa for the buyers to enjoy. Make your house feel like a home.
