If you are looking to sell your home, there are a few things you can do to make your home more appealing for buyers. Staging a Home is one of these things. By staging your home right, you can appeal to a wider range of potential buyers ensuring that you get the right offers on your home.
Tips on Staging a Home
The first thing you will want to do when staging a home, is to clear out anything you don't need. At times this is difficult, as you are likely still living in your home, however here are a few ideas to help you declutter and create a feel of space in the home.
Large Furniture - Furniture that is large takes up a lot of space and tends to make rooms in your home look smaller, take out bigger pieces of furniture to create an open feel throughout the home.
Personal Decor - Family photos, heirlooms, and ornaments, may cause a potential buyer not to feel at home. You want to make the buyer envision themselves living in the space.
Clutter - Papers, toys, small appliances, all of these things can make spaces seem cluttered. Clear off all countertops, tables, and anywhere that tends to collect clutter in the home.
Room By Room - Staging a home is an art, there are things you can do in each room of the home, you are selling, so that the home will appeal to a larger range of buyers.
Living Room - Float your furniture in the center of the room rather than pushing it up against walls. This will bring a space that opens it self up to conversational groups and also creates an adhesive flow to a room.
Bedroom - All you need in a bedroom is a bed, side tables, and perhaps a few small accessories. Change the lighting to give it a relaxing feel by changing out bright light bulbs and adding soft lamps.
Kitchen - Clean your kitchen till it is sparkling, organize kitchen cabinets, and remove clutter from the countertops. Adding house plants to your kitchen can make it feel like a welcoming space.
Before you let any buyers into your home you will want to make sure it is showing at it's best. Touch up worn or chipped paint, repair any holes or cracks, fix dripping faucets, and give every area of your home a thorough cleaning.
