Play where you live! Your home can be an extension of your hobbies and your interests. You can find a home in the greater Anchorage area that fits your passion and has room for your hobbies. There are many opportunities if you look for them in houses and condominiums in Anchorage Alaska real estate. If you you can dream it, you can have it!
Lake Front / Water frontage properties. There are a lot of lakes in Southeast Alaska including Campbell Lake, Sand Lake, Lake Hood and Delong Lake. There are homes that have float planes on dock in their yard and homes on lake front for the view and unique water birds and fishing opportunities. Whatever your passion, there might a lake home you can enjoy. Prices vary widely from million-plus homes in Anchorage to cottages and cabins an hour outside the city in the Wasilla and Big Lake areas.
Shop / Garage - Some people like to have a shop or garage where they can do larger projects. We have helped home-buyers locate and acquire homes that have room for pottery, a kiln and pottery implements, or enough room to build a boat and a house with ample space to rebuilt an airplane and re-cover the fabric wings. These properties aren't all that easy to find, usually. If you are looking for something special, give me a "heads-up" so I can keep an eye out for you.
Hockey / Skating Rink Properties - Anchorage is a big hockey and outdoor activity community. Winter is long enough that if you don't get outside and enjoy the great outdoors, you might succomb to "cabin fever" - an affliction in the north where people can get semi-crazy by not getting outside regularly! There are a good number of families with kids that skate. If you had room for a rink in your back yard, your kids could skate and exercise under your watchful eye.
Horse Property - There is a community of homeowners that love horses and like to have their horse at their home so they can feed and care for the horse right at home and not have to pay to board it commercially. The Municipality of Anchorage has established guidelines for properties where home owners want to have a large domestic animal, such as a lama or horse. If you are interested in a owning a property so you can have a horse or other large animal, be sure to check several things, in addition to the home you want to buy, you need to check the zoning to make sure animals are allowed. Also if the lot has Covenants and conditions and regulations, also known as CC & R's, check to insure their isn't a limitation recorded on the lot or neighborhood. Read the Municipality of Anchorage "Large Domestic Animal Ordinance" to make sure the property is in compliance. You don't want to make a purchase only to learn you cannot have your horse because the there is a formal regulation prohibiting it. Good news, we can help you find a home for you as well as room for your horse!
