Why You Should Choose a Certified Residential Specialist

Let's say you decide to buy your dream home or the perfect investment property in Anchorage, or a weekend cabin in Girdwood or Big Lake. Or maybe you want to sell your property, ready to downsize or move on to something bigger & better. Whatever your situation, it makes sense for you to work with the best of the best, the Realtors with a working knowledge of the particular areas and homes in which you are interested. You want a specialist who really knows how to market your home effectively, negotiate to get you the best price and terms, and carry everything through to a successful closing. That kind of expertise takes more than just knowledge - it takes experience, advanced qualifications, and the right track record. While Anchorage has quite a few Realtors, only some of them have qualified to be Certified Residential Specialists (CRS).

So Much Snow I can't find the Yard Arm at the curb!

  • Certified. Not all Realtors put in the effort to become more highly qualified - in fact, only 3% of Realtors nationwide have earned their CRS designation with a combination of education and/or experience, indicating hard work and a commitment to excellence.
  • Residential. Working with a CRS means working with someone with a wealth of experience in home sales and purchases, someone who has focused his or her efforts on residential transactions (as opposed to commercial, vacant land, etc.).
  • Specialist: Your CRS is an expert who has been trained specifically for residential transactions. According to the CRS Council, Certified Residential Specialists have 3 times as much experience and manage 3 times the amount of business as other Realtors!

Last September, the National Association of Realtors published an interesting report. It covered the obvious facts - that most people use the Internet when they start to look for a new home, that last year 88% of people worked with a Realtor to help them achieve their goals. However, we found the time commitment most interesting: most buyers spent between eight and eleven weeks looking at properties before they bought! If you're planning on taking even half that time looking for your new home, it makes sense to have a CRS in your corner, someone who can offer expert advice whenever it's needed. Sellers can benefit from this knowledge, too - with buyers spending so much time looking at properties, you'll want a CRS to help you market your home effectively and set it apart from the rest of the pack.

In short, choosing a CRS means choosing someone with a proven track record who, on average, gets more homes sold and helps more people buy homes than 97% of Realtors.
