It is situated approximately 20 miles Thunderbird Falls in Chugach Falls - homes and housesnortheast of downtown Anchorage and is located between Eagle River to the south, and Eklutna to the north. Some people refer to this general area as Peters Creek as well.

There are about 8,300 residents, most of whom work in Anchorage or the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Chugiak has a lower average sales price and is currently one of the main sites of suburban expansion near Anchorage. Chugiak offers many housing options including large lots, mountain views and is ideal for residents looking for more privacy and a rural feel.
